This week I finally finished my Cosmic Boy piece. This was one that was in the middle of a bunch of things that I started. I believe I referenced this last week.
So I stopped, prioritized, and focused on one thing at a time. And sure enough this one is finished and now on to the next one.

For those not in the know, Cosmic Boy is one of the three founding members of the Legion of Super-Heroes. He, like all of his people from Braal, has powers of magnetism. And when you think about it, that power is quite powerful indeed, as referenced in Legion of Super-Heroes #297. In that issue, Cosmic Boy goes on a killing rampage to avenge the death of his brother. He finds the perpetrators and starts to extract the iron from out of their blood. If it weren’t for his girlfriend, Night Girl, knocking his butt out, he would have been kicked out of the Legion for good. Whew.
He’s also had some ups and downs. The biggest down was during Jim Shooter’s second run on the Legion of Super-Heroes. For some reason Shooter decided to make him a complete chauvinistic asshole. He treats Night Girl absolutely horrible and he even back slaps Light Lass in the face, knocking her down. Luckily that didn’t last long and Gerry Conway, Roy Thomas, and Paul Levitz pretty much brought him back on track.
I haven’t ready everything in LSH lore. I am currently right in the middle of 1993, pre-Zero Hour in the DCU so I do wonder if there are going to be more stories with him in it and hopefully memorable ones. He would be in my top eight Legionnaires at least.
That’s all for this week folks. If you find yourself sticking a magnet on your fridge, do us a favor and think of our good ole buddy, and Legion founding member, Cosmic Boy.
Long Live the Legion!
